Actress Iris Almario Pioneers Into Quibi’s New Frontier

(HOLLYWOOD PRESS CORPS) — In a time when home renovation shows are a popular trend on TV and having a social media celebrity status has gained ground, Quibi brings a new series titled Flipped. The short form comedy presents couple Jann and Cricket Melfi (Will Forte & Kaitlin Olson) as creative visionaries in a world of fools, destined for the small screen. After losing their jobs, they discover an HGTV contest to become the next interior design power couple. They immediately set off to film their submission video renovating an abandoned shack in the desert, not realizing that the shack is a storehouse for a Mexican cartel. In a lucky twist of fate, the cartel members want to put their “skills” to work.

Enter Iris Almario, actress and true animal advocate. Almario joins the cast of Flipped in the recurring role of an admirer of the Melfi’s home decoration abilities who’s looking into hiring the couple for a renovation job. She will be acting opposite series regulars SNL Alum Will Forte (The Last Man on Earth) Kaitlin Olson (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) award-winning actress/director Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives), Andy Garcia (Ocean’s Eleven, The Godfather Part II) and Arturo Castro (Alternatino).

“I play a recurring role on the series. Without revealing too much I can say that my character is impressed by the Melfis and wants to hire them. It was a fun show to work on. I worked with Will, Kaitlin, Arturo, Eva & Andy” said Almario about her experience filming the show.

Almario’s long list of credits features highly acclaimed shows including: All Rise (CBS), Nobodies (TV Land), Jane The Virgin (CW), Code Black (CBS), NCIS (CBS), Bosch (Amazon), American Crime Story (FX Network), Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (CW),
a recurring role in Switched at Birth (Freeform) opposite Constance Marie, Heart of Dixie (CW), The Young & The Restless (CBS) and General Hospital (ABC) just to name a few. Almario’s charity work includes being the co-founder of WUFAW (Women United For Animal Welfare), a 501(c)3 animal welfare non-profit. The organization’s focus is on improving animal welfare locally and abroad through direct action in the field. WUFAW works with foreign and local partners to help set up education programs, build sanctuaries, provide low cost veterinary care, and many other acts that enhance the lives of animals. With only two and half months into 2020 WUFAW has helped animals in Cambodia, South Korea, Puerto Rico & Vietnam. (
About the show: FLIPPED is an eleven, short-form episode, new comedy series from Groundlings alums  Kaitlin Olson and Damon Jones, and Funny or Die, for Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman’s short-form video platform Quibi. Joe Farrell, Damon Jones, Steve Mallory are the executive producers of the show, which will join the new scheduled programming lineup of 51 Quibi shows launching on April 6, 2020.


Quibi is a new type of digital platform from the creators of Funny or Die. It will showcase short form original content. Programming offers movie-quality shows that bring big stars together to offer big stories, laughs, drama, action, suspense, romance, scares, tunes and more.
Quibi will offer 10 minutes or less new episodes every day which are designed to fit users’ phones.

Quibi is set to debut April 6. The new digital platform will showcase a lineup of 51 shows available at launch from creators including Jennifer Lopez, Chrissy Teigen, Chance the Rapper, Liam Hemsworth, Sophie Turner, Lena Waithe, Nicole Richie and Reese Witherspoon. Show titles for their lineup include Flipped, Survive, Most Dangerous Game, Thanks a Million, Chrissy’s Court, Murder House Flip, Last Night’s Late Night, The Replay by ESPN and more. The mainly mobile platform is offering a 90-day free trial to those who sign up on its website before the April 6 official launch. Regular monthly pricing is set at $4.99 (with ads) and $7.99 (no ads).

Q and A with Talented Multi-hyphenate Jacques Derosena

Multi -talented artist Jacques Derosena is a noted French Instagram Host Influencer /Musician/ Actor/ Producer & Co-Owner of the Luxury Persian Fragrance  Brand “Sattar”. His music is currently playing in  Spotify & France Radio  artist: JAYYFLASH. He is a yearly curated host & attendee of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in France & is a yearly special guest of Baron de Rothschild  Mouton Cadet Cannes. How did you get your start in acting?
I started by being an extra on a tv show that was shooting in Maryland. I then began to take acting classes at theater conservatories and continued my studies at Stella Adler Studios New York and The Herbert Berghof (HB) Studio of New York, where I soon started booking small parts in tv and films.

How did you make the transition to also produce as well act and how’s it like to be a multi-hyphenate?
I started to produce short films because I didn’t want to wait for
opportunities. I wanted to create them as well. I eventually moved on to producing feature films and this has helped tremendously in telling stories.

I noticed you have a great international background. Do you ever play foreign characters given all the languages you speak?
I do often play foreign characters such as: African, Caribbean. It has
been of great use of me speaking French and being able to switch into different dialects.

What’s it like to be a model especially a hand model?
Being a model and a hand model is quite an interesting journey. Being the face of a popular brand brings more awareness and opportunities and being a hand model has been a fun, creative way of using my hands in different ads.

What was it like to win the prestigious Accolade Award?
Winning an Accolade Award was amazing. Getting an award for something that you created and the audience, people receiving it well. I am grateful for the experience and the award recognition.

How did you get involved with the Kapow Film Festival?
Our Film Director created the Kapow Film Festival. After discussing with us its premise and  mission, we became involved and have been  exposed to amazing storytellers from all over the world and bringing their stories to the general public.

What advice do you give those just starting out in this industry?
My advice would be to  get involved in as many organizations as
possible.  Ask questions. It’s all about information and experience that help with confidence.

What upcoming projects do you have coming up?
Feature Films: Black Pumpkin, The House in The Middle Of Nowhere.

You have achieved so much in this industry. Is there any other facet
you’d like to conquer (i.e. directing)?
I love producing. I love putting projects together. Perhaps someday I
may look at directing but for now, I’m Loving Acting & producing.

Legacy Charitable Foundation


The “Legacy Charitable Foundation” held its fifth annual Holiday Masquerade Ball on December 8 at The Majestic Downtown in Los Angeles.

In an effort to support “Echoes of Hope” which serves communities by helping children, youth and young adults in need by eliminating barriers and assisting them to reach their full potential, the Holiday Ball encouraged giving with this event which included, open bar, full sushi bar and catered dinner. Aside from creating awareness, the organization raises funds to bridge the gap between those in need and support the programs that help them strive.

The Legacy Charitable Foundation assists our community by promoting social welfare and supporting other non profit organizations with an emphasis on improving health research such as Alzheimer’s and cancer, homeless assistance organizations, disabled or sick youth, foster youth, education, financial literacy, low income family residences and overall well being of all people that are in need of hope. The evening climaxed with an electrifying performance by CeCe Peniston, (Best known for her hit single “Finally”) and other number one hits.

Holiday season is a time for reflection and giving and giving they did.

“Eastsiders” Premiere

Cast members and producers of the Netflix series “Eastsiders” gathered at the Downtown Independent to premiere the fourth and final season on December 1, 2019.

Kit William’s Emmy nominated and LGBTQ series has been nominated for eight Daytime Emmy Awards and only reinforces the desire for more diversity in the world of entertainment.

“Eastsiders” won Best Ensemble at Indie Series Awards as well as 10 other Indie Series Awards in 2016.

American Music Awards pre party and gifting suite

The Kimpton La Peer Hotel in West Hollywood was the location for an American Music Awards pre party on November23, 2019. Hosted by GBK Productions, appetizers and fine wine was served as celebrities from many genres were gifted high end products from vendors with an eye on Hollywood.

A full DJ set was performed by Jes Danz and dancing was not only allowed, (This was not Footloose) but encouraged. The after party spilled into the bar and pool area as the evening grew late with several live acts performing for the enthusiastic crowd.

Stars from Ozark, Days of Our Lives, American Idol, Good Girls, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, The Office, Grey’s Anatomy, Shameless,  Entourage, Stumptown, Arrested Development, Famously Single and others attended and partied the night away with great eats in their belly, love in their hearts and a cache of gifted goodies.

Hollywood’s Top Bad Guy Jasper Cole Guest Stars in ABC’s The Rookie tonight!

Hollywood’s top bad guy, Jasper Cole, guest stars in ABC’s popular show, The Rookie, tonight at 10pm PST/9pm Central as Crackhead Fred. His larger than life career spans various mediums like stage, film, and TV and touches millions of fans around the world.

As a multi award-winning veteran character actor with over a 100 TV/film credits, Cole continues his villainous streak having co-starred in the box office smash hit film, The Purge: Anarchy as a “Homeless Man” produced by Michael Bay and Jason Blum, in Captured, as “Shelly” starring Brittany Curran and Kristin Prout and Model Home as “Walker” opposite Emmy winner Kathy Baker and Monique Gabriella Curnen.

This Athens, Georgia native also played the lead role of “Bad Cop” in the horror/thriller Savage Sistas and as “Dark Butler” in the horror film Spirits opposite Lynn Lowry as well as “Peter” in Awaken The Shadowman, starring Jean Smart. He appears as “Jacques De Leon” in the new CBS Drama, Training Day, opposite Bill Paxton. He also guest starred in American Horror Story and booked roles on Baskets and WestWorld.
