MODA 360, an innovative exhibit of international art, fashion and film, presents a special event benefitting the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens’ conservation program and celebrating the Zoo’s 50th anniversary August 1, 2017, 3 to 9 pm, at The New Mart in Downtown L.A.
Incorporating exhibits and live presentations by international fashion designers, artists and filmmakers, Moda 360 encourages collaborations between the three creative industries. The 2017 edition of Moda 360 shines the spotlight on sustainability and the importance of preserving the habitats and inhabitants of our planet. A unique feature is “A Walk on the Wild Side,” a sustainable runway fashion show with creations by artists and designers reflecting the species, habitats and conservation projects championed by the L.A. Zoo.
“Moda 360 will be a more intimate event this year to focus on the important issue of environmental stewardship and support the Zoo’s international programs,” says Debora Pokallus, producer of Moda 360. “Preserving our environment has become even more critical today and it’s important to raise awareness and support organizations that do this important work.”
Proceeds from this event support the L.A. Zoo’s new Species Conservation Action Network (SCAN), including a dedicated Curator of Conservation whose sole focus will be to identify and respond to urgent animal conservation issues around the world. The L.A. Zoo dedicates funds, expertise, and staff to a wide variety of conservation projects all over the globe, with a special focus on those that target wild counterparts of animals in their collection. While the reach is global, two of its greatest conservation successes have been local in nature: the California Condor Recovery Plan and the Peninsular Pronghorn Recovery Plan, both restoring populations of critically endangered animals to their native habitats. The private, non-profit Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA) has supported the Zoo in partnership with the City of Los Angeles for more than five decades and provides funding for and operates seven essential Zoo departments,
According to GLAZA President Connie Morgan, “As the Zoo celebrates 50 years of leadership in exceptional animal welfare and its role as a key player in major conservation projects that protect animal species from extinction, GLAZA’s Board of Trustees builds upon five decades of major support for the Zoo and looks ahead to the next 50 by funding SCAN’s Curator of Conservation position into the future.”
L.A. Zoo Director John Lewis says, “The Zoo, with its decades of institutional knowledge and scientific expertise, will utilize SCAN to build solutions and connect the best people and programs, inside and outside the zoo profession, to act in a coordinated effort to address pressing and critical species survival issues. The Zoo may not be the Ark but we are shipbuilders!”
Moda 360 promises an eclectic and entertaining program representing three creative industries and presenting the ideas, inspiration, and ethics that drive the independent artist, designer and filmmaker forward in their work. Showing the best of contemporary creation, Moda 360 gives a look behind the art to show the contribution these talented exhibitors offer the commercial and cultural market.

Intrigued by its contents, but unable to find the owner, she decides to interview the people in the notebook to decipher the identity of the mysterious man. The strangers whom she meets, considered the dregs of society, tell Sara stories about the enigmatic owner of the book, who is considered both diabolical and kind. In her relentless pursuit of the ultimate stranger, Sara is thus plunged into the horror of the unknown, where reality merges with art, and where existence itself is questioned. The film has also received 7 nominations at the prestigious Film Festival in San Diego and won Best Guerrilla Film at the popular Action on Film (AOF) Festival in Monrovia, California and the noted Finow Film and Script Festival in Eberswalde, Germany.Vida Ghaffari will introduce the film.

A special feature of the runway will be unique creations by artists and designers reflecting the species, habitats and conservation projects championed by the L.A. Zoo. These exceptional designers will hit the runway to support the L.A. LOS ANGELES, Calif. – August 17, 2016 – Global model search announced!
Submissions now open through end of August online at www.NUmuses.com and at open castings in New York and Los Angeles.
From the founder of treats! Magazine, Steve Shaw, and photographer David Bellemere, comes a global model search to discover the first NU MUSES – 12 of the world’s most modern and inspiring beauties to be photographed for a luxurious and timeless photographic calendar. A millennial take on the classic Pirelli calendar of the 1970’s, NU MUSES will reestablish “the nude” as fine art to grace the walls of art galleries and collectors’ portfolios. The calendar will be launched at a VIP event during Art Basel Miami in December 2016 at an exclusive art gallery exhibition. Showcasing 24 stunning images, NU MUSES will be celebrated and gain worldwide exposure. In addition, the whole process will be shot for an hour & a half documentary to be shown in 2017 on one of the largest TV networks in the USA, and later distributed worldwide.
“We are launching NU MUSES at a time when things are highly censored, and restricted: we have pop culturecelebrities flashing body parts to get attention and music lyrics that are overly sexualized, but we need to bring back the female form as classic fine art that is highly celebrated verses gratuitous ”, explains Steve Shaw, founder of the project. Adds Christianne Brooks, Creative Director of the project, “This is about making something timeless through Intention vs. Attention. Intention by using a photographer who is a master of lighting, a master at working with talent and crafting these beautiful moments to capture them in. This is nothing new about nudity, yet we arepushing the boundaries and we are celebrating the uncensored beauty of the naked body.”
From landscapes and portraits in history, nudity was once recognized as the highest form of art, but over time has lost its point of view. We need to get back to showcasing timeless and classic nudity where women, as well as men, feel comfortable and inspired by these images of the female body. Women will want to be a part of this project because it’s a beautiful piece of art.
Starting today, models are invited to submit online or attend one of the open castings this month in either Los Angeles or New York. The search will be curated and finalized via live castings, social media voting and fashion industry judges.
If selected to be one of the 12 NU MUSES, you will be:

The energy level at the Canyon Club in Agora Hills on Friday night was high and the 80’s vibe was strong as the crowd anxiously anticipated the arrival of Fee Waybill and “The Tubes” to hit the stage. But before the hit band of 40 years of iconic music appeared, the opening band, “Se7en Reasons Why” with front man Mick Scott took the stage, and the floor, and the bar and the rafters!
Se7en Reasons Why is a throw back band in hard-rock-80’s style that is known for heavy metal songs such as “Writing on the Wall”, “Living in the Now”, and the time appropriate song, “World Gone Mad”. Scott is an amazing performer and acrobat who draws the audience in with his piercing expressions and spontaneous gymnastics.
He is backed by a talented and eclectic group of musicians including Jason Stalk, the primary songwriter, lyricist and lead guitarist of “Se7en Reasons Why”. Hiro Goto, the band’s violin player, is a well-known composer for singer-songwriters and films. He also serves as a live sound engineer and audio technician. On the drums is the versatile performer, Michael Villiers, who is considered the backbone of the band. Break Twomey rounds out the sound with his melodic bass playing and dramatic style. Together, “Se7en Reasons Why” creates an unforgettable, unique experience for their fans and audience members.
With just enough break time to get a new cold beverage, The Tubes began to set up their equipment for their tour-through-time-and-space, back to the punk rock era of the 1980’s. The Canyon Club quickly filled with patrons and the hundred degree heat from outside began to leak into the venue itself. That didn’t stop the band and fans from rocking until their hair dripped with sweat.
The phenomenal journey through 40 years of The Tubes music began with an instrumental performance by Roger Steen on guitar, Prairie Prince at the drums, Rick Anderson on bass and David Medd on keyboard. The audience was swaying with the melody waiting patiently for the arrival of the star of the show, and master of disguises, Fee Waybill.
The audience jumped to attention and the hoots and howls began as Fee sauntered onto stage wearing a gorgeous, perfectly crafted Zoot Suit complete with hat and swagger. He opened the set with “You Never Can Tell”, followed by “Monkey Time”.
His costume changes were almost as spectacular as the tunes he was belting out. He changed from his suit to a straight jacket, to a Quaalude shirt and pill box mask, to a ball gag with a bare chest and leather pants. After many other clothing changes, his fans were nearly brought to tears as he was escorted out onto the stage in a “Rocky Horror Picture Show” style drag queen outfit complete with 24 inch heals and sexy platinum wig.
He belted out the cult classic “White Punks on Dope” and he truly mesmerized the audience. The band took over again as he once again changed his outfit.
This time he appeared in a turn-of-the-century, red and white striped, barbershop quartet-style jacket and pants and wowed the crowd with “She’s a Beauty”.
The other songs that set the crowd on fire were “Life”, which he sang with passion and clarity, and he closed the show with two fan favorites, “Saw Her” and “Talk”. The night was magical, incredibly hot and excessively memorable. Two great front men from two different bands. The Tubes rocked the house like it was still the Reagan era. It was a great night of traditional, good old-fashioned rock and roll.

Noted entertainment attorney Nadia Davari has to walk a fine line in fashion. It’s a given that she has to look professional, but since she works in Entertainment Law, her style has to be more hip and on trend, than say, a tax attorney. Here’s her essay on the role wardrobe plays in her thriving career as an entertainment attorney.
There are many reasons for wanting to look good and dress nice. Growing up, I used to think that being worried about my appearance and how I look was being superficial. However, I have come to think differently as I started law school and then started practicing as an attorney.
How we dress affects how we feel and how others perceive us. While “You can’t judge a book by its cover” may be true, who was is that said “dress for success” or “dress for the part”? There is little doubt that how we dress has an affect on the way we feel. We communicate with more that the words that we speak. We also communicate with the way we dress. So, I have come to appreciate that how I dress not only affects me personally and how I feel but it also affects the audience and the people whom I meet in the way they perceive me.
As far as dressing for myself, when I “dress for the part”and feel good,it helps me in the visualization of what needs to get done, in turn, affectingmy ability to accomplish tasks and persuade others. I know that dressing well and looking good has a direct affect in my effectiveness inaccomplishing my work.
In dressing for myself to make me feel good, I have also come to realize that I must dress appropriately, meaning I must have respect for the place, situation and the audience. I want to make a good first impression. When I think of a lawyer, looking professional and dressing for the office are the first things that come to mind.Generally, when dressing as an attorney, I want to exude confidence or tell myclient that you can trust me. As such, choices may include pant suits, skirt suits and all around uptight goes hand in hand with dressing for the job. While this is true for almost all of the areas of law practice, entertainment attorneys are a bit unique in this respect.
In my opinion, dressing as an entertainment attorney is looking like a professional with a twist. As an entertainment attorney, I try to relate to my clients and to make them feel comfortable. This may lead to sartorial choices that are a little different than the typical attorney. It may be a little more edgy or casual than what one may think of how a typical attorney dresses.
