John Cleese at the Grove in Anaheim

(HOLLYWOOD PRESS CORPS) — Los Angeles, California — Monty Python’s John Cleese has returned to the Grove of Anaheim after appearing there a year ago for a screening of Monty Python’s Holy Grail  and Q&A with the comedic legend himself. Towards the end of last year Cleese was on his Not Dead Yet! And Holy Grail 50th Anniversary tour. Cleese is appearing nationwide on this tour with a film screening and Q&A. Cleese is booked through the end of October ending in NY. At 85, Cleese is the oldest Monty Python member and one of four surviving members of the six. This historic comedy group formed with Cleese, Graham Chapman, Terry Jones, Eric Idle, Michael Palin, and Terry Gilliam back in 1969. The group had their show Flying Circus on the BBC from 1969-1974 and released three movies. In addition to the Holy Crail  there was Meaning of Life and Life of Brian. Monty Python came to an end with the passing of Chapman in 1989. The group would reunite in 2014 with 10 shows at London’s O2 arena being the first performances without Chapman and last with Jones. July 20th, 2014 would be the final time the surviving members of Monty Python would all perform together.

Before the screening, Cleese addressed the audience with an intro to the film and it was easy to see how many fans there were there who had known all the classic scenes from the film from the French Taunter to the Knights Who Say Ni to the Bridge of Death. Cleese and took the stage following the film with it’s infamous heading which is simply a hand covering the video camera. Audience members asked about the film as well as other works of Cleese’s like A Fish Called Wanda. Bands such as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Genesis had helped fund the film. Cleese has had numerous acting roles including Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Rat Race, and Shrek.
