(HOLLYWOOD PRESS CORPS) — Los Angeles, California — Bad news from the community of Westwood as the Persian Gulf Restaurant and Museum was involved in a fire on April 23rd, 2024. An electrical panel in the back of the business caught on fire, causing hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage.
This devastating fire has closed the historic Westwood restaurant and caused serious damage. This restaurant is a gathering place for the Westwood community. Chef Rana is in charge of the kitchen at Persian Gulf restaurant and she is devastated. Many young people from UCLA have been dining at the Persian Gulf Restaurant. Owner and Community Leader, Roozbeh Farahanipour, has created a museum that features metals badges and other military memorabilia from the Persian Gulf war.
The memorabilia from the Persian Gulf Museum has been taken down and put into storage. The museum is a an important part of the neighborhood as it celebrates Persian culture and the Gulf War. Over 60 cases of wine were lost in the blaze. Roozbeh hopes that he can recover from the fire in six months.
Roozbeh also mentioned the up coming dedication next month to slain Iranian Mahsa Amini. She was killed in Iran for not wearing a head scarf by the Iranian Morality Police. The West Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce with Roozbeh as the President, was instrumental to getting the intersection of Westwood and Rochester renamed to Women Life Freedom Square. Roozbeh says that the sign as already been made by the LADOT. The Dedication ceremony is coming up in July.
Roozbeh mentioned that the legal fees are pilling up. He asks for everyone’s support to reopen the Persian Gulf Restaurant and Museum in Westwood.
