(HOLLYWOOD PRESS CORPS) — Los Angeles, California — The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the cult classic that defined midnight movies, is turning 50! Fans celebrated at the official Rocky Horror Picture Show 50th Anniversary Convention on September 27, 2025, produced by the Rocky Horror Picture Show Fan Club in partnership with Lou Adler.
The celebration took place at The Roxy in Los Angeles, California — the iconic venue where The Rocky Horror Show first debuted in the U.S. — with a full day of festivities. Highlights include appearances by original cast members Tim Curry (Dr. Frank-N-Furter), Barry Bostwick (Brad), Patricia Quinn (Magenta), and Little Nell – Nell Campbell (Columbia), as well as shadowcast preshows, live panels, a memorabilia auction, raffle, trivia and costume contests, and exclusive merchandise.
Special programming featured a heartfelt memorial to Sal Piro, beloved president of the Rocky Horror Picture Show Fan Club, presented by his sister Lilias Piro. Fans also saw a presentation by Tim Deegan — the Fox marketing executive who helped launch Rocky Horror onto the midnight circuit and author of Saving Rocky Horror: From Orphan to Icon.
The screenings included the final cut of the fan documentary Rocky Horror Saved My Life, hosted by director Shawn Stutler, and Strange Journey, Linus O’Brien’s (son of Richard O’Brien, who played Riff Raff), award-winning exploration of the history and cultural impact of both The Rocky Horror Show and The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Beyond the events at the Roxy, there was a special screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show by the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures at the David Geffen Theater. There was also a screening of Shock Treatment, the 1981 follow up to Rocky Horror that tells the continuing adventures of Brad and Janet, at Landmark’s Nuart Theatre.
