Nymphia Wind, made her New York City theater debut at The Town Hall with her show, “BANANAS?”.

I saw some drag shows here and there in New York City but this might be one of the best I ever saw in my life. No wonder Nymphia Wind won the 2025 Season 16 Ru Paul’s Drag Race.

“Never underestimate the power of Wind”, they said. Two hours of non stop entertainment, laughs, musical numbers, jokes, auction, bananas flying into the audience, more laughs, and a closing act with all performers on stage.

Scheduled for one night only on June 26, 2025, at 7:00 PM, this performance was part of The Town Hall’s Pride celebrations. The show was bombastic, a visually arresting performance piece that blended drag, fashion, and performance art, offering a reflection of Nymphia Wind’s journey over the past year.

“BANANAS?” transformed the historic Town Hall stage into a portal to her chaotic mind, with Nymphia exploring themes of life, death, and rebirth, all while incorporating her signature wit and joy, and a strong emphasis on the color yellow.

The performance drew from her diverse artistic influences, ranging from Peking Opera to FKA Twigs and Marina Abramović.

Several performers joined Nymphia Wind: Angel Au, Felicia Oh, Shia Ho, Chiang Weiii, Hibiscus, Draggy Boo Boo and Hannah Monina.

The dancers supporting Nymphia Wind were Fiona Tsang, Rio Kikuchi, Jeffrey Pelayo and Klint Dimpas. The veteran Sequida Hall hosted the show, making sure everyone was having a good time. So much joy!

The Town Hall encouraged attendees to embrace the “yellow carpet” experience by wearing yellow or Nymphia Wind-inspired drag. Everyone was part of the act.

Choreographers Chick Hsiung, Mark Nuñez and Spencer Clark delivered an energetic, engaging show. Performers were interactive and we frequently asked to participate.

In a world of despair and chaos, a dose of drag might save your life.

For over a century, Town Hall has been a vital part of New York City’s cultural scene. Founded by Suffragists seeking to educate the public, it opened in 1921, symbolizing their victory with the 19th Amendment’s passage.

Richard Strauss’s 1921 concerts cemented its reputation as a premier music venue, leading to countless historic performances, including U.S. debuts by Strauss and Isaac Stern, Marian Anderson’s first New York recital, the 1945 introduction of bebop by Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker, and Bob Dylan’s 1963 concert.
