In a world where desire, ambition, and influence can intersect in complicated ways, multi award-winning filmmaker and actor Harley Wallen’s upcoming psychological thriller Blur, aims to explore the difficult spaces that exist beyond easy answers.
Blur is a Painted Creek Production in conjunction with Street Films Productions and produced by Harley and Kaiti Wallen, Joseph Williamson, Jeff Berry, Jay Alexander Tessa Hawkes, and Jamie Nicole.
Set within the music industry, the film examines the vulnerability of people navigating their identities, desires, and boundaries, particularly during periods of life when those boundaries may still be developing. Through its characters and psychologically charged storytelling, Blur explores how personal agency and outside influence can become difficult to separate—and how the consequences of that uncertainty can extend far beyond a single moment.
Rather than reducing its subject matter to straightforward answers, Blur invites audiences to engage with the uncomfortable questions that emerge when desire, power, and consent exist in complicated circumstances.
Written and directed by Harley Wallen, the film features Kaiti Wallen as Jenny, alongside Damien Chinappi, Sammy Morningstar, August Kyss, Vida Ghaffari, Jay Alexander, Jeff Berry and Harley Wallen. A collection of first-look stills offers an early glimpse into the film’s visual world and the characters at the center of its story.
“Some of the most difficult things in life exist in the gray areas,” says Wallen. “Especially when we’re young, impressionable, and still learning how to understand ourselves and establish our boundaries. Blur is interested in exploring those spaces—not to provide easy answers, but to allow audiences to sit with the questions and consider how we understand desire, influence, and consent.”
As Blur moves forward in its festival journey, the first-look release offers audiences a glimpse of a contemporary, visually driven thriller based on a true story and anchored by a deeper, character-driven narrative.
