The Lifies come to Life

The Lifies is a series of skits, much like selfies of life, showing the humorous side of everyday situations through the eyes of men, women, cats, dogs, fish… and other creatures. Every three episodes, there is a different world and new characters are discovered. Each trilogy has its own original theme song.

Valeria Zunzun (Faze, Promises) and Claire Dodin (Switched at Birth, Gods and Secrets)  the executive producers and writers of the series, met doing voice over work in LA. They ended up drinking coffee together regularly and realized that they laughed at the same jokes. While they were high on caffeine and oxygen deprived in the booth, the stories sprung out and The Lifies was born.

Since someone randomly gave them a GoPro camera, it became their destiny to self-produce their own project.

Before diving into the realistic contemplation of no budget guerilla film making, the GoPro dived into a fish tank and the first episode of the fish trilogy was shot. We follow the adventures of Sophie the clownfish, who feels like a fish out of water in her new aquarium.

In the first episode of the dog trilogy, they put a rescued dog in the spotlight. Kimchi, who plays Bernard, was a South Korean breeding dog whose offspring was sold for its meat. She was brought to the US by Pug Rescue of Korea (Facebook.com/pugrescueofkorea) and found happiness in the Hollywood home of actor Alex Hooper. Alex is a comedian and actor who has performed all over the country and has appeared in New Girl, Hot in Cleveland, Nickelodeon, and Jason Reitman’s Roast Battle.

Kimchi was a natural, she nailed her first performance with the challenge of playing a male dog and rocked the GoPro look.

Unlike her on screen character who rebels against humans, she was just delighted to be the star and knew how to charm the crew into giving her treats between takes.
