SoCal Sinema Studios released their brand new promo poster for multi award-winning filmmaker Dustin Ferguson’s “RoboWoman 2.” Filming begins this fall with a talented ensemble cast consisting of Dawna Lee Heising, Brinke Stevens, Sue Price, HPC’s own Vida Ghaffari and Mel Novak as Dr. Michaels. The screenplay is by Mike Reeb, who also penned Robowoman.
This film is the highly anticipated sequel to Robowoman. The original “RoboWoman” follows Vivica Stevens (Dawna Lee Heising, “Blade Runner”, “Nemesis 5”, “Revenge of The Samurai Cop”) on her last night at a temp agency as she accepts a date with a persistent co-worker. Soon she finds herself cornered in a dark park at night and brutally attacked, raped and left for dead by her date and his deranged friends. She’s found barely alive by her concerned roommate, played by Sue Price (“Nemesis 2-5”) and undergoes illegal, experimental “cybernetic” surgery where she is given a replacement robotic arm and visor to correct her vision. However, the new implants don’t settle well because it isn’t long before she decides to seek revenge with the aid of her new attachments. One by bloody one she stalks and kills her attackers before the shocking and revealing conclusion! To view the trailer, please visit: youtu.be/8MzXaGyeK6k
On Sunday, Aug. 6 at 4 p.m. at the Education Stage of the Los Angeles Convention Center, Scare LA 2017 held the informative “The 7 Legal Pitfalls You Must Avoid Before Getting Into The Horror Entertainment Biz” with ScareLA’s own renowned entertainment attorney Nadia Davari and her client, noted actress and HPC’s own Vida G. (The Mindy Project, Holy Terror).
These ladies took the stage to guide attendees safely past the horror entertainment industry’s largest — and unexpected — pitfalls. Davari showed the attendees how to not get taken advantage of. To add a little practical spice, this seminar was moderated by Vida, who herself has dealt first-hand with many of these pitfalls in her career, but overcame them all with Nadia’s brilliant expertise. Many of the ladies educational and often humorous experiences and anecdotes were highlighted in this informative seminar.
“It has truly been an honor to represent ScareLA and Lora, a young serial entrepreneur, and watch it evolve into such an informative and epic event,” said Nadia.
“I was so thrilled to be part of this panel with my wise attorney and a part of this wonderful convention that was started by a woman. It’s really great to be a part of the horror community with such knowledgeable and empowered women,” added Vida.
“I created ScareLA with the vision of bringing the community together and celebrating our city’s diversity in its most unusual forms. Halloween has an amazing tradition of self-expression and creativity and we bring thousands of artists, haunt entertainment professionals, horror filmmakers and fans to celebrate it early. ScareLA was first to bring Halloween to the summer and we are thrilled with the amazing response to our show and creating Halloween’s first Comic-con,” said Ivanova.
“As an entrepreneur, it has been extremely important for me to have an A-class legal team to ensure our success and I could not be happier working with experts like Nadia Davari in this process. Her ability to look at the big picture and navigate the intricate landscape of show business has been key to our growth and I really enjoyed having her share her experience with our community at large at ScareLA this year,” added Ivanova.

MODA 360, an innovative exhibit of international art, fashion and film, presents a special event benefitting the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens’ conservation program and celebrating the Zoo’s 50th anniversary August 1, 2017, 3 to 9 pm, at The New Mart in Downtown L.A.
Incorporating exhibits and live presentations by international fashion designers, artists and filmmakers, Moda 360 encourages collaborations between the three creative industries. The 2017 edition of Moda 360 shines the spotlight on sustainability and the importance of preserving the habitats and inhabitants of our planet. A unique feature is “A Walk on the Wild Side,” a sustainable runway fashion show with creations by artists and designers reflecting the species, habitats and conservation projects championed by the L.A. Zoo.
“Moda 360 will be a more intimate event this year to focus on the important issue of environmental stewardship and support the Zoo’s international programs,” says Debora Pokallus, producer of Moda 360. “Preserving our environment has become even more critical today and it’s important to raise awareness and support organizations that do this important work.”
Proceeds from this event support the L.A. Zoo’s new Species Conservation Action Network (SCAN), including a dedicated Curator of Conservation whose sole focus will be to identify and respond to urgent animal conservation issues around the world. The L.A. Zoo dedicates funds, expertise, and staff to a wide variety of conservation projects all over the globe, with a special focus on those that target wild counterparts of animals in their collection. While the reach is global, two of its greatest conservation successes have been local in nature: the California Condor Recovery Plan and the Peninsular Pronghorn Recovery Plan, both restoring populations of critically endangered animals to their native habitats. The private, non-profit Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA) has supported the Zoo in partnership with the City of Los Angeles for more than five decades and provides funding for and operates seven essential Zoo departments,
According to GLAZA President Connie Morgan, “As the Zoo celebrates 50 years of leadership in exceptional animal welfare and its role as a key player in major conservation projects that protect animal species from extinction, GLAZA’s Board of Trustees builds upon five decades of major support for the Zoo and looks ahead to the next 50 by funding SCAN’s Curator of Conservation position into the future.”
L.A. Zoo Director John Lewis says, “The Zoo, with its decades of institutional knowledge and scientific expertise, will utilize SCAN to build solutions and connect the best people and programs, inside and outside the zoo profession, to act in a coordinated effort to address pressing and critical species survival issues. The Zoo may not be the Ark but we are shipbuilders!”
Moda 360 promises an eclectic and entertaining program representing three creative industries and presenting the ideas, inspiration, and ethics that drive the independent artist, designer and filmmaker forward in their work. Showing the best of contemporary creation, Moda 360 gives a look behind the art to show the contribution these talented exhibitors offer the commercial and cultural market.
Moda 360 will also screen fashion videos from international filmmakers, and premiere a video homage of LA fashion by Lucinda Luuvas.

Intrigued by its contents, but unable to find the owner, she decides to interview the people in the notebook to decipher the identity of the mysterious man. The strangers whom she meets, considered the dregs of society, tell Sara stories about the enigmatic owner of the book, who is considered both diabolical and kind. In her relentless pursuit of the ultimate stranger, Sara is thus plunged into the horror of the unknown, where reality merges with art, and where existence itself is questioned. The film has also received 7 nominations at the prestigious Film Festival in San Diego and won Best Guerrilla Film at the popular Action on Film (AOF) Festival in Monrovia, California and the noted Finow Film and Script Festival in Eberswalde, Germany.Vida Ghaffari will introduce the film.

The riveting first official teaser trailer for the new supernatural horror film HOLY TERROR was just released. This film is in post production via Cineridge Entertainment from the award-winning team who previously brought us SAMURAI COP 2: DEADLY VENGEANCE.
Written and directed by Rich Mallery (SOCIOPATHIA) and executive-produced by Gregory Hatanaka (who helmed SAMURAI COP 2 from a script co-written by Mallery), HOLY TERROR stars MEATBALLS’ Kristine DeBell, Bruce Lee’s GAME OF DEATH’s Mel Novak, Lisa London (H.O.T.S., PRIVATE RESORT), Kelly Reiter (The Z Virus), Jesse Hlubik (MAY, ALL CHEERLEADERS DIE), Nicole Olson, Scott Butler (WIENER DOG INTERNATIONALS), and HPC’s Vida G (THE MINDY PROJECT, JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE).
Believing the strange disturbances in their home are their deceased son reaching out from the other side, Molly [Reiter] and Tom [Hlubik] ask a medium [London] to make contact. But instead of their child, the three accidentally invite a vengeful demon to cross over. After the demon violently possesses Molly’s younger sister [Olson], the couple enlists the help of a disgraced priest [Butler] and his mentor Sister Catherine [DeBell] to attempt a dangerous exorcism.
“There has been a resurgence of exorcism/possession-type movies, so it’s a little challenging to give audiences something they haven’t seen before. But we have a few tricks up our sleeve that are going to make HOLY TERROR stand apart from the crowd. Plus, we’re going for a real late-’70s/early-’80s feel. Films like THE CHANGELING, THE AMITYVILLE HORROR and of course the original EXORCIST are huge influences on this project,” said Mallery.
“I’m really excited to be partnering with Gregory Hatanaka again; this is the fourth film we’ve worked on together,” Mallery continues. “It’s a little strange this time around, since usually he’s directing and I’m the writer/AD, and this time I’m directing and he’s the DP, but we’re totally in sync when it comes to the vision, so we’re like a well-oiled machine. We’ve brought back a lot of the cast of SAMURAI COP 2—Jesse Hlubik, Lisa London, Mel Novak, Kristine DeBell and Nicole Olson—and although this is a completely different type of film, it’s great to have a lot of familiar faces who are used to the way Gregory and I work. We’re both slightly insane, so it’s amazing to be surrounded by people who support our vision.”
“As Rich and I are both rabid fans of 70s AIP and New World horror pics,” Hatanaka adds, “it was only a matter of time before we teamed up to do a film in that tradition. HOLY TERROR works on deep psychological levels, and has an otherworldly, TWILIGHT ZONE-ish kind of feel.”
Holy Terror will be premiering this April on Amazon Prime.
