(HOLLYWOOD PRESS CORPS) — Los Angeles, Ca — On Sunday, September 15, 2024, Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky, in partnership with the Women’s March Foundation, will unveil Women Life Freedom Square in Westwood, honoring the life of Mahsa Amini. Amini died in Iranian police custody on September 16, 2022, after she was arrested for opposing the mandatory hijab dress code.
Mahsa’s death ignited the global Women Life Freedom movement, which demands the end of compulsory hijab laws and other forms of discrimination and oppression against women in Iran. This ceremony commemorates her legacy and the ongoing fight for women’s freedom worldwide.
The ceremony will feature speeches from community leaders and advocates, along with a vibrant celebration including food, arts and crafts, wellness activities, and resources for human rights advocacy.
