Attending a night of jazz from the 1910s to the 1950s at The Metropolitan Museum of Art with Michael Hashim is always a masterclass in elegance, thanks to his performance with his group, “The Foot Warmers.”
This Saturday, Hashim performed with Cynthia Sayer on the banjo and Jen Hodge on double bass.

Taking place on a moonlight-bathed night at the Great Hall Balcony Cafe, the bandās mastery of “Jazz Age” classics always delivers New Orleans style swing.
With a a soundtrack that echoed life into the museum’s architecture, the trioās chemistry was shifting between Louis Armstrong to Irving Berlin, with tributes to romantic melodies.

Surrounded by The Metropolitan Museum’s comprehensive collection, drinking wine and “people watching,” we felt time pass by and couldn’t help but dream about life in the past, especially when Hashim sang Armstrong’s 1955 classic, “When You’re Smiling (The Whole World Smiles With You).”
Catch Michael Hashim on Saturday night at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The show starts at 6 PM at the Great Hall Balcony Cafe.
