Lyssen (pronounced listen) is a Chicago
rapper, but a poet at heart, who uses her music to influence change through self-awareness. On Friday, August 7, she will be performing her music at Las Palmas in Hollywood as a part of the Joell Ortiz tour. Ortiz is known for his role in the hip-hop group Slaughterhouse, organized by Eminem. The doors open at 7:00pm PT with performances beginning at 9:00pm PT. To buy tickets, visit her website or you can click the below flyer to order.
Inspired by the violent decay of her hometown Chicago, Lyssen breaks the common artist mold with various combinations of poetry and rap while motivating the lost souls to notice the world around them and consciously depict how they fit into it. “My goal is to allow people to not only enjoy my art, but also find the art within themselves and display it,” explains Lyssen. The delivery and wordplay of her lyrics keeps listeners engaged and stimulated, while the music entertains as a theatrical rendition of soul.
Badri Kermani was a hair and makeup artist for the Miss Middle East Beauty Pageant, which was held at the scenic Museum of Contemporary Arts in San Diego. This pageant was founded by Ben Kalasho, the President of the Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce and he collaborated with Jessica Kalasho on this momentous event. Rosy Amaya was also a hair and makeup artist for this event.
Lily Ghalichi of the Shahs of Sunset was a judge and Rita Mezrahi of Claires Collections designed all the contestants dresses. Kermani, who is also San Diego based, recently styled hair and make-up for several noteworthy celebrities and Hollywood actresses for this year’s Academy Awards. Known for creating unique looks and iconic hairstyles, Kermani considers everything, from body shape to personality when creating a customized hairstyle for her clients. She looks at hair design as sculpting — an art form that requires constant refinement.
Kermani was a recent winner of the prestigious RAW Hairstylist of The Year Award at the 5th Annual RAW awards. This prestigious award recognizes creative professionals and artists who have excelled in film, fashion, music, art, photography, performing arts, accessory design, hair, and make-up design. The selection process narrows down a very competitive field to one winner per category in each city. These winners then go on to be evaluated for skill level, creativity, wow factor, and professionalism, by a national RAW panel of industry leading experts who then decide the national winner. For Kermani, who was 2012’s runner-up, winning this year’s award solidifies her reputation as a leading hair stylist in San Diego and Southern California.
This artistic genius also recently won the best makeup artist award from the Samira’s Show Luxury Lifestyle Event.
Certified by the Academy of KMS and the renowned Redken Salon & Training Facilities in New York City, Kermani focuses on creating unique and avant-garde looks. Her training and special vision was on full display during this year’s Academy Awards.
Kermani plans on carrying the momentum and exposure she developed from the Academy Awards into a truly passionate and artistic endeavor; designing hair and makeup for models and designers in Los Angeles’ high-powered fashion industry. Kermani and her skilled team are poised to create stylish and fashion forward hairstyles for not only Hollywood but also clients at her salon in San Diego and Los Angeles .
