A Century of Sparkle and Pure Magic: Modern Tech Meets Timeless Tradition. The Radio City Music Hall, New York, NY.

“A Heart-Stopping Tribute to 100 Years of Sisterhood” – Rating: ★★★★★

I am still feeling the energy at Radio City tonight. Seeing the Rockettes on their 100th Anniversary was something I will never forget.

The first time I saw The Rockettes was when Derek Hough hosted years ago. The whole theater was enchanted and felt in love with him.

The show opened with a moving mini-documentary on the massive LED screens, tracing their journey from 1925 to now.

The Rockettes started as the Missouri Rockettes in 1925 and moved to NYC in 1927. The first Christmas Spectacular was held at Radio City Music Hall in 1933.

To commemorate this year’s centennial, Sixth Avenue between 51st and 52nd Streets was temporarily renamed “Rockette Way” and there are special exhibits at the Museum of Broadway.

The Rockettes helped Radio Music Hall from clousure and demolition in 1978. The The venue was designated a New York landmark that year, allowing it to remain open.

The theater was extensively renovated in 1999.

The Rockettes iconic costume reveals, including the legendary 78-second quick change into the “New York at Christmas” outfits are a religious experience for everyone who loves dance.

The “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers” remains the ultimate masterclass in discipline—watching them fall in that slow-motion domino line is a 100-year-old tradition that never, ever gets old.

The holographic elements introduced this season during the Santa scenes were stunning: nothing beats the “New York at Christmas” number.

The precision this year is on an entirely different level. The “Twelve Days of Christmas” tap routine was so sharp you could hear every single click in unison across the Great Stage. Of course,  If you want to feel the true “Christmas Magic” of New York City, this centennial show is the only place to be.

The use of indoor snowfall, immersive digital projections, and the return of the Frost Fairy drones was very innovative. The “Dance of the Frost Fairies” featured those magical winged drones flying right over our heads, turning the entire theater into a winter wonderland. It was unforgettable.

There is still time to catch the iconic Rockettes! Don’t walk, RUN!
