On Monday, April 21, The Acting Company’s 2025 Gala, celebrated over 50 years of actors at one-night classic event. Bringing classic and new plays to audiences nationwide, allowing artists and students to envision themselves in extraordinary roles, the evening featured a silent auction, special guest stars, engaging performances, a dining experience, and live music for dancing.

The night honored with The John Houseman Award recipient Bartlett Sher (Tony Award-winning director, innovator, mentor and educator) and Joan M. Warburg Award to Timothy A. Wilkins (Partner, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, leading attorney, lecturer and philanthropist) amoung others.

Tony Award winning playwright JT Rogers (Broadway’s Oslo, Off-Broadway’s Corruption, Max’s “Tokyo Vice”) presented the award to Sher; LaFontaine Oliver (President and CEO of New York Public Radio) presented The Joan M. Warburg Award to Wilkins.

Founded in 1972 by John Houseman and Margot Harley, The Acting Company is a renowned New York City-based touring theater known for developing young classical actors. As the only professional theater primarily dedicated to this mission, it has launched the careers of numerous notable actors. The company annually tours the United States, bringing classical and new plays to diverse audiences, often partnering with other regional theaters. Beyond performances, they also run educational programs for students, solidifying their role as a vital institution in American theater.
