Noted composer and jazz pianist Phil Lentz will be performing on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at The Iridium Jazz Club in midtown Manhattan. Phil Lentz BIO
Mr. Lentz will be the pianist for a jazz band, organized by Music Makers, that features jazz singer Paula Newman in a show titled: “Broadway + Beyond.”
The band will play songs by Stephen Sondhem, Elton John, Carole King and blues songwriter Sippie Wallace. Mr. Lentz has been performing in Music Makers bands for the last decade in venues including The Iridium, The Bitter End and The Cutting Room.
In addition, Mr. Lentz continues to write and record his own original music in the jazz, pop and folk genres. He has released two albums of original music:
He is currently in production for his third album. Prior to his music career, he was an award-winning political journalist and has also published two novels, both political thrillers.

The Iridium
The Iridium is one of New York City’s most famous jazz clubs, known for modest prices, decent food and great music – especially jazz guitarists.
Founded in 1994 near Lincoln Center, it quickly gained acclaim as the musical home for guitar legend and pioneer Les Paul.
The inventor of the solid-body electric guitar, Paul had a weekly Monday night residency at The Iridium for 13 years, until his death in 2009. Paul’s connection to The Iridium raised its musical profile and it continues to attract numerous legendary musicians, including such stars as Paul McCarthy, the Rolling Stones, Steve Miller, Jeff Beck and many others.
Today, located at its new home at Broadway and 51st Street in Manhattan, it is considered a guitar mecca, attracting talented musicians in numerous genres, including jazz, folk, R&B and pop.
