(HOLLYWOOD PRESS CORPS) — West Hollywood, CA — Monday, March 9th, 2020 — The Hollywood Press Corps dispatched top photographer, Ellen Zuckerman,  to cover the star studded red carpet for the Monday night premiere of Corey Feldman’s long-awaited documentary My Truth: The Rape of 2 Coreys. Corey Feldman is a sexual abuse survivor, activist and national ambassador for CHILD USA. Corey is also a member of SAG committees on sexual harassment, and he was instrumental in getting the Child Victim’s Act passed in California and New York last year. He brought his whole TRUTH to light, as promised. My Truth is helmed by award winning director Brian Herzlinger (My Date with Drew) and features interviews with many of The Two Coreys’ friends and co-stars including Keith Coogan (Adventures in Babysitting, The Fox & The Hound), Jamison Newlander (The Lost Boys) the late Kristoff St. John (Bad News Bears, The Young & The Restless) in his final interview. The documentary also includes an exclusive interview with Disney star and childhood sexual assault survivor Ricky Garcia, who recently came forward about his own abuse as a teen star in the industry. Corey hopes that this film will serve as a call to action so that justice can be served, and children can finally be protected.

Quynh Paris’ Futuristic Fall/Winter 2016-2017 Show

The stars sparkled in the sky and on the runway at the super sparkly “The Light of the Stars” Quynh Paris Fall/Winter 2016-2017  at the Pacific Design Center (PDC).  The PDC turned out to be the perfect venue for Quynh as it was a romantic setting with a vast runway surrounded by water, which really highlighted Quynh’s futuristic designs, which were inspired by the elements.

“My couture pieces and my ready to wear pieces have the same inspiration: the universe and all its stars. Via my couture pieces we can see nebulae, planets, light beams…In my ready to wear pieces we can see the trajectory of lights, either straight lines or curves,” said Quynh.

All this made for a vivid, whimsical and exciting show. It was reminiscent of Jane Fonda’s Barbarella on the runway.

Acclaimed designer Quynh has a great mix of East meets West given her worldly outlook and the fact that she has studios in Paris, Saigon, and Southern California!  Even the crowd at Quynh’s events was worldly with prominent members of the Vietnamese community like the Mayor of Fountain Valley Mike Vo to noted members of the press and Vietnamese artists as well as a European , Middle Eastern and American guests.

I also enjoyed the opening of the show, which started with a spirited performance from international singer Thanh Thoi. Thanh was dressed to impress with a top hat and a cool bespoke jacket designed  by Quynh. His rendition of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” added to the ethereal theme of the evening and was a stellar beginning.

“Thanh comes from Australia. I loved his voice and presence  the first time I heard him sing. He is not only a singer, but  also a dancer and a stage director,” she added.

He has much in common with Quynh, who is an accomplished painter, dancer and violinist before she became a fashion designer. This multi-talented artist  incorporates her love of these art forms in her stylish couture collections with volume, asymmetric constructions, 3D sculpture structures that have a life of their own, as well as fluid movements, painting and her use of rich colors and intricate details.

Action on Film Festival World Premieres

Several of my films are making their world premiere at the prestigious Action on Film (AOF) Festival, which is going on until Sunday, September 27th in scenic Monrovia at the Krikorian Theatres. These films are Strangers In A Book, Seeking Valentina, and Natural Born Filmmakers.

This festival was created by Del Weston, who is also a filmmaker, so he really supports indie filmmakers in our community. And I really feel the sense of community at this festival. I ran into supportive friends from the film festival world and the media like King Bassey, Founder of the Los Angeles Nollywood Film Awards, LA Talk Radio Host Cameron Datzker and journalist and actor Harrison Held.

Working on Strangers In a Book was an interesting experience and I learned so much as I also wore a producer hat on this one in addition to playing the lead role. This film is nominated for Best Guerilla short film at AOF. It was shot entirely in black and white. And has a great soundtrack which enlisted bands from the hip and progressive Italians Do it Better label, such as Chromatics, Desire, and Johnny Jewel which really add to the style of this bold, psychological thriller. Keeping fingers and toes crossed!

I had a great time working on Seeking Valentina. Kristin and Armin had a crazy shooting schedule, but thankfully for me, my scene was shot in North Hollywood. This film is about an Iranian-American writer (Ali Bavarian), in the pangs of grief, who takes in a mysterious tenant (Kristin West). When she mysteriously disappears, is she a ghost, a hallucination, a dream or a runaway? The subject matter and open-ended ending left a lot of audience members in suspense about who Valentina really was and that was what Nasseri was trying to convey with the film. The film also stars Srinivasa Kapavarapu of Outsourced, Mehlad Gibson, and yours truly of course.

I’m really excited that Natural Born Filmmakers is nominated for a Best Comedy Feature award at AOF. I had a blast working on Natural Born Filmmakers with an ensemble cast of fine folks like my dear friends Gregory Blair and Dawna Lee Heising, which are very talented. I can’t wait to work with them on Garden Party Massacre!
