Singer/Songwriter Cinzia Moniaci has dropped her first EP titled “Moon Child”. Her 2017 solo EP was recorded with renowned music producer Warren Huart (The Fray, Colbie Caillat). Music on the CD was performed by Cinzia Moniaci, with Huart playing all instruments along with legendary rock drummer Stephen Perkins (Janes Addiction) playing on the EP’s lead track “Do You Believe.” The Hollywood Press Corps got a chance to speak with Cinzia Moniaci about her latest project.
Hollywood Press Corps (HPC): What was your inspiration for the E.P?
Cinzia Moniaci (Cinzia): I wanted to write a collection of songs full of hope, something a bit retro and indie and a bit anthemic at the same time.
HPC: How long was the recording process?
Cinzia: Recording the songs didn’t take long in terms of time, probably a couple of weeks but we started in the winter, then took a break and began mixing in the Spring.
HPC: How did you and Warren Huart end up working together?
Cinzia: We had some common connections on Linkedin and started chatting on it one night, I went to meet him at his studio and we immediately connected. We have a lot of the same ideas when it comes to music and art. We are both European and I think there is a common thread in our view of the world.
HPC: Was the album recorded at Spitfire Studios?
Cinzia: Yes, I loved working up in Laurel Canyon, I live by the beach so it quite a far drive each day but magical once up in the greenery of the canyon.
HPC: How did Stephen Perkins come to play on the E.P?
Cinzia: I have known him for a very long time, he used to be in a band with my husband and Dave Navarro, before Jane’s Addiction, he is an awesome guy, we have recorded several songs together over the years, I love the energy he brings to the tracks!
HPC: Do you have plans for a full album?
Cinzia: Yes! I have been working on the new songs and am excited to record them!
HPC: What artists inspired you become an artist?
Cinzia: So many of them, I have had a wide variety of influences from Blondie to Stevie Nicks and Chrissie Hynde, but also Suzanne Vega, Belinda Carlisle, Susanna Hoff.
HPC: What is one thing that would surprise our readers to know about you?
Cinzia: I speak four languages fluently and like to sing my songs in all of them, depending on the mood of the song.
HPC: What’s next for you?
Cinzia: I just launched a sunglass line, to complement my handbag line, I love to combine music and fashion in everything I do.
HPC: Do you love anything more than music?
Cinzia: My daughter.
Thank you to Cinzia Moniaci for taking time to answer our questions. We look forward to your next project!
